Teaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy centres on one core belief: understanding is everything. I want every student to walk away from a lesson with a clear picture of what is happening in their swing, why it's happening, and what effect it has on the ball. Without that understanding, lasting improvement is difficult. My goal is to build golfers who can self-diagnose issues on the course — who don't need to wait until their next lesson to fix a problem, but can make adjustments in the moment. I use the best available technology — including Trackman 4 for full swing analysis and Capto for putting — alongside video and customised drills to make the learning process as clear and practical as possible. Every student is different, so I tailor my approach to suit their individual mechanics, learning style, and goals. Whether you're a complete beginner or a competitive player chasing a lower handicap, the process is the same: build knowledge, build skill, build confidence. My junior programme is grounded in the Titleist Performance Institute's approach, developing young golfers as complete athletes — not just swing mechanics. The greater the foundation of functional movement and body awareness, the better the golf will follow. I'm committed to ongoing education myself, because the best coaches never stop learning.
About the coach
I'm a PGA of Australia Advanced Certified Professional and Head Teaching Professional at Manly Golf Club on Sydney's Northern Beaches, with a passion for helping golfers at every level truly understand and improve their game.
My own playing background has given me a deep appreciation for what it takes to improve. I competed in college golf in the USA on a scholarship at California State University, Chico, earning selection in representative USA Collegiate teams and competing in prestigious events including the US Amateur. Back in Australia, I represented Golf NSW, competed in the NSW Open and NSW PGA, and won the 2017 NSW/ACT Trainee Professional Championship.
I've been fortunate to spend time learning from some of the world's best coaches, including Rick Sessinghaus — coach to Colin Morikawa — and Dana Dahlquist, who has worked with Viktor Hovland, Brad Faxon, Charles Howell III, and Scott Piercy. Those experiences have shaped the evidence-based, detail-oriented approach I bring to every lesson.
On the certification side, I hold an Advanced Coaching Certification through the PGA of Australia and am one of only a handful of Australian PGA members to hold TPI Junior Level 3 certification — which I completed in California in 2018. I'm also TPI Golf and Power Level 2 certified, Trackman Level 2 certified, and use Trackman 4 and Capto Putting technology in lessons.
Alongside private coaching, I serve as a Jack Newton Junior Golf North Metro Academy Coach and run junior clinics and holiday camps at Manly Golf Club, developing young golfers as well-rounded athletes. I've built an online coaching programme that allows students to submit videos and receive detailed, voice-over swing analyses from anywhere in the world — making consistent improvement possible between in-person sessions.
If you're ready to build a real understanding of your game and see lasting results, I'd love to work with you.
