Teaching Philosophy
My approach to coaching starts with one simple principle: I let my students set the goals, and we work together to get there. Golf is personal — every player comes to me with a different background, different strengths, and a different vision of what success looks like. My job is to meet you where you are and build a clear, structured path forward. I believe in teaching the 'why' behind every adjustment. When a student understands how and why the swing works — or why a club fits a certain way — they become better at self-correcting on the course. That's the kind of knowledge that lasts beyond the lesson. Over 14 years of certified instruction, I've worked with golfers at every level, from complete beginners to competitive juniors heading to college programs. Junior development is something I'm especially passionate about — watching a young player develop confidence, discipline, and a real love for the game is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I also bring club fitting into my teaching in a meaningful way. As a certified club fitter, I know that the right equipment makes a real difference, and understanding how a club performs helps my students get more out of every session. Whether we're using simulator data, launch metrics, or the SAM Putt Lab, I use technology to make instruction clear and measurable — not complicated.
About the coach
I'm a certified golf instructor with over 14 years of experience and 20 years in the game, based at The Golf Barn in Frankfort, Ohio — a year-round indoor facility built for serious golfers and curious beginners alike. I hold my certification through the NRPGI and have dedicated my career to working with golfers of all skill levels, from first-timers to competitive junior players.
My name became especially well known in junior golf circles when parents started seeing real results — kids going on to earn college scholarships to play the game they love. To date, I've helped over 14 junior players compete at the collegiate level, and that number continues to grow. That recognition earned me a place among the Top 50 US Kids Golf Coaches nationally, and in 2022, I was honored as OHSAA High School Coach of the Year in the state of Ohio.
Beyond junior development, I've been deeply involved in youth and adult clinics, working with players across every stage of the game. I'm also a certified club fitter through Golf Lab and SAM Putt Lab certified — which means I can bring both a technical eye and the right equipment knowledge to every session. I believe fitting is a genuine advantage: when you understand your clubs, you understand your game.
