Teaching Philosophy
When it comes to teaching, I believe in a holistic approach to your game. Technique and proper mechanics absolutely play an important role, but many golfers can shave real strokes off their scores with a better mental approach, smarter course management, the right equipment, or a more purposeful practice routine. There's no one-size-fits-all solution in instruction — my job is to find what works best for YOU. Every lesson starts with understanding your goals, your current game, and what's actually standing in your way. I use tools like Trackman and SAM Putting Lab to give you real data, and my TPI background means I can identify physical limitations that may be quietly holding your swing back. From there, we build a clear, personalized roadmap — and I make sure you leave every session with a concrete plan for what to work on next. I'm passionate about personal development and helping people reach their full potential. Whether you want to compete at a high level or simply enjoy your first round on the course, I'm committed to creating a learning environment that's comfortable, pressure-free, and genuinely effective. Golf has given me so much in life — and giving back to the game through quality instruction is something I take enormous pride in every single day.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Class A Professional and the 2025 Iowa Section PGA Teacher of the Year, based at Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio in West Des Moines, Iowa — one of the Top 100 club fitting locations in the country.
My journey in golf started at Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn, Nebraska in 2017, where I worked junior clinics and began teaching private lessons. I went on to play four years of college golf at Grand View University — earning 3 collegiate wins - while also helping run Grand View's winter golf programs. After graduating in 2020, I joined Stone Creek Golf Course as an Assistant Professional and completed the PGA Associate Program, becoming a full PGA Member in June 2021.
Since joining the Ken Schall Golf team, I've given over 3,000 lessons and fitted more than 1,000 players for better equipment. I'm TPI Level 1 and Golf Level 2 Certified, which means I bring a body-swing connection lens to every lesson — helping players understand how physical limitations can directly impact their ball-striking and overall performance.
I'm also a Callaway staff professional and serve as a Mentor for PGA Associates through the Iowa PGA Section, because developing the next generation of golf professionals is something I care deeply about. Beyond instruction, I partner with the Iowa Golf Association Foundation to help get junior golf equipment into the hands of young players who need it.
My approach is no-pressure, player-centered, and built around you — not a cookie-cutter model. I can't wait to help you play better golf.
