Teaching Philosophy
I believe great coaching starts with ditching the clichés. Too many golfers have been held back by recycled swing tips that don't account for how they actually move — and that's exactly what I set out to change. My approach is rooted in modern, evidence-based methods: I use Trackman launch-monitor data and high-speed video analysis to remove the guesswork and give you a clear, objective picture of what's actually happening in your swing. That data becomes the foundation for everything we work on together — from impact dynamics and dispersion patterns to course management and mental performance. Having competed on the European Tour and the Challenge Tour, I understand what it takes to perform under pressure at the highest levels of the game. That experience shapes how I coach — I don't just teach technique, I help you build a game that holds up when it counts. Whether you're a junior just starting out, an amateur looking to break through, or a professional seeking an edge, I tailor everything to your individual needs and goals. My aim is simple: to assist, improve and inspire every golfer I work with.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Professional and Trackman Certified Coach based at Davenport Golf Club in Stockport, with over two decades of experience in professional golf as both a competitor and a coach. I turned professional in 2001 and have competed on the European Tour — including The Open Championship — and the Challenge Tour, accumulating a wealth of on-course experience that directly informs the way I teach.
I founded Howarth Golf and built one of the most advanced indoor golf performance studios in the North of England. My coaching integrates Trackman launch-monitor technology, high-speed video analysis, and biomechanical principles to provide golfers with precise, actionable feedback. This data-led approach takes the guesswork out of improvement and gives every student a clear roadmap for progress.
I work with golfers at all levels — from juniors beginning their journey to elite amateurs and touring professionals — and I'm passionate about developing the complete player: technically sound, mentally resilient, and physically prepared. My monthly coaching programmes are structured to deliver clarity and measurable results, and I also invest in the broader coaching community by mentoring assistant professionals and supporting junior development pathways.
