Teaching Philosophy
I believe that lasting improvement in golf comes from simplicity, not complexity. Over the course of my career — from the championship venues of Dubai and Qatar to the fairways of County Durham — I've worked with golfers at every level, and the one thing I've learned is that every player, regardless of ability, benefits most from a clear, focused idea they can actually take to the course and use. I call these 'golden threads': the one or two key concepts that unlock real, consistent progress for that individual player. My job is to cut through the noise, diagnose what's really holding your game back, and give you something concrete and actionable to work on. I use the latest technology — including Flightscope X3 launch monitor data — to add clarity and precision to every session, ensuring my feedback is grounded in real numbers, not guesswork. Whether you're a complete beginner, a club golfer looking to break a scoring barrier, or a junior with ambitious goals, I tailor my coaching to where you are and where you want to go. I'm passionate about creating an environment where learning feels achievable and progress feels real.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Class AA Professional with over 15 years of experience coaching golfers of all abilities, from complete beginners to globally recognised sporting icons. My career began at City of Newcastle Golf Club before I spent six transformative years working at two of the world's most prestigious European Tour venues — Emirates Golf Club in Dubai and The Pete Cowen & Mike Walker Golf Academy at Doha Golf Club in Qatar. During that time I had the privilege of coaching and fitting players including Lewis Hamilton, Pep Guardiola and Marco Verratti, and was part of the support teams for the Qatar Masters, Dubai Desert Classic and DP World Tour Championship. In 2019, I returned home to the North East of England and joined the academy at Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa in County Durham — one of the region's finest 36-hole golf resorts — where I now serve as PGA Professional. I'm constantly investing in my knowledge and toolkit. I use Flightscope X3 launch monitor technology to deliver accurate, data-driven diagnosis, the Stack System to help clients unlock more clubhead speed, and also run a structured Junior Academy with a clear progression route for young players.
