Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every golfer — regardless of skill level — deserves instruction that is clear, purposeful, and built around consistent progress. Whether you're picking up a club for the first time or grinding to sharpen your game as a competitive player, my approach stays the same: identify the real issue, communicate it simply, and give you the tools to fix it and keep improving. My background in golf journalism and equipment has given me a deep appreciation for how the game works at every level — from swing mechanics to gear selection — and I bring all of that into my coaching. I don't believe in overcomplicating things. Golf is hard enough. My job is to cut through the noise, give you clear feedback, and help you build a game you can rely on under pressure. I love what I do, and that passion shows up every single lesson.
About the coach
I'm a PGA of America Member and full-time golf instructor based in Chicago, with over 10,000 lessons taught across a career that spans some of the country's top instruction environments. I've worked with golfers at every stage of the game — complete beginners finding their footing, competitive amateurs chasing their handicap goals, and touring professionals fine-tuning their craft. That breadth of experience has made me a more versatile and perceptive coach. Beyond the lesson tee, I've built a career in golf journalism and equipment reporting, which gives me a unique perspective that very few instructors can offer. I understand how equipment interacts with technique, and I use that knowledge to give students a more complete picture of their game. Currently coaching at Five Iron Golf in Chicago, I'm passionate about making golf accessible, enjoyable, and genuinely rewarding for every student I work with. My goal in every lesson is the same: consistent progress through clear instruction.
