Teaching Philosophy
I believe the short game and putting are where rounds are won and lost — and where the biggest, fastest improvements can be made. Having maintained a plus handicap for over two decades and competed at the highest levels of amateur golf in South Yorkshire, I know firsthand what separates good golfers from great ones: it's the ability to get up and down, hole the clutch putt, and stay composed around the greens. My coaching is rooted in real playing experience, not theory alone. When I work with a student, I want to understand their game from the inside out — how they think, how they practice, and where the gaps really are. I draw on years of consulting with district and county players, which has sharpened my ability to communicate clearly and adapt my approach to each individual. Whether you're a club golfer looking to lower your scores or an ambitious player chasing county selection, my goal is always the same: give you the tools, understanding, and confidence to perform when it matters most.
About the coach
Based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, with a playing and coaching background built over more than two decades at the top of the amateur game. As a long-standing member and former team Captain at Wheatley Golf Club and the Sheffield Union of golf clubs. I've represented the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs on over 100 occasions — and I've been fortunate enough to win the Union's Amateur Championship 3 times at Lindrick. Holding a plus handicap for more than 20 years has given me a deep, practical understanding of what it takes to play and think like a serious golfer.
On the coaching side, I use decade golf for course strategy, stats and mapping,having worked with players ranging from club members through to district and county competitors. My particular passion lies in the short game and putting — areas I believe are consistently undercoached and undervalued.
