Teaching Philosophy

I believe golf is won or lost between the ears just as much as it is with the swing. My path to coaching didn't start on a driving range; it started at the start gate of a moguls course, where I learned that technical skill only matters if you can execute it under real pressure. That's the foundation of how I teach. I don't believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all swing models. Every golfer's body, background, and goals are different, and my job is to figure out what your game actually needs. not force you into a generic template. I break things down to the fundamentals, build repeatable patterns through deliberate practice, and layer in the mental game from day one, not as an afterthought once the swing "looks right." Progress isn't always linear, and I want my clients to understand why we're working on something, not just what to do. If you understand the why, you can self-correct on the course when I'm not there, which is the real goal of coaching. Above all, I want lessons to feel like a partnership. I've competed at the highest level in a sport where the margin for error is razor-thin, and I know what it feels like to have someone in your corner who believes in your potential and holds you accountable to it. That's what I aim to be for every golfer I coach, whether you're chasing your first sub-90 round or trying to shave strokes off a low single-digit handicap.

About the coach

I'm Nate Roberts, a scratch golfer and golf coach based in Park City, Utah. I've been coaching golfers since 2015.

But my path to golf started on skis. I'm a Freestyle Moguls World Champion and represented the U.S. at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Competing at that level taught me things you can't get from a textbook: how to build repeatable movement under pressure, how to make split-second technical adjustments, and how to stay composed when everything's on the line.

I bring that same approach to golf instruction. I don't just fix your swing, I help you understand why it works, build patterns that hold up under pressure, and develop the mental game to trust your training when it counts. Whether you're refining your ball-striking, sharpening your short game, or working on playing your best golf when the pressure's on, I'll break your swing down on video and give you specific, actionable drills.

Based in Park City, Utah, I coach golfers of every level, from beginners building a foundation to competitive players chasing lower scores.
