Teaching Philosophy
I believe that helping students with the learning process is just as important as giving them technical changes. Once a student understands how to diagnose and make suitable changes based on fact not feelings their development sticks and they own their changes. This protects them from bouncing from tip to tip and hitting plateau’s causing endless frustration. I love people and promote a relaxed, enjoyable and safe environment but also one that demands results.
About the coach
Matt has more than a decades worth of coaching experience with the PGA both in New Zealand and Australia.
Born in the UK he completed his Sports Science degree with Honors and his experience includes all ages and abilities having coached beginners, The Elite Junior Squads in New Zealand, Pennent teams, club golfers and more.
Matt’s coaching style is a friendly one but is focused heavily on getting his clients results. He believes in the HOW to learn just as much as WHAT to learn. This skill development vs purely technique focus has allowed his clients to consistently break scoring barriers. They become confident that they won’t ‘lose’ what they got from the lesson and that those skills will stay with them and continue to develop afterwards.
Matt helps his clients break down the barriers that may have been holding them back from meaningful change in the past and gain even deeper enjoyment from the game.
Matt is available to coach all areas of the game both in group or individual formats.
