Teaching Philosophy
For me, golf is more than just a sport — it's a lifelong journey of growth, resilience, and discovery. I've been playing for nearly 40 years and have seen first-hand how the game can challenge and reward you in equal measure. That experience shapes everything I do as a coach. My approach is simple: I listen first. Every golfer is different, and great coaching has to reflect that. Whether I'm working with a junior picking up a club for the first time, a lady golfer building confidence on the course, a county player fine-tuning their game, or a competitive amateur chasing that next level, I tailor everything to the individual in front of me. I specialise in simplifying the game. Golf can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. I break things down into clear, manageable steps and deliver feedback in a way that makes sense to you — not just technically, but practically on the course. I use video analysis and personalised drills to make improvement visible and tangible. Patience, positivity, and clarity are at the heart of how I coach. I want every student to leave a session feeling more confident, more capable, and more excited about their game. Whether you're after your first solid contact or chasing a scratch handicap, I'm here to help you get there.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Professional based at Cottrell Park Resort in Cardiff, Wales, with over 20 years of coaching experience and nearly 40 years of playing the game I love.
As an amateur, I earned 11 caps for Wales and won two national boys titles — experiences that gave me a deep understanding of what it takes to develop as a golfer at every level. I qualified as a PGA Professional in 2007 and have since dedicated myself to helping golfers of all abilities unlock their potential.
I teach men, women, and juniors — from complete beginners taking their very first swing, to county players and Welsh international golfers competing at the highest amateur level. I run a thriving junior academy and New2Golf programme at Cottrell Park, one of the largest golf memberships in Wales, and I'm proud to have helped students progress all the way to international representation.
My coaching philosophy is built on listening, simplifying, and personalising. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all instruction. I use video analysis, launch monitor data, and tailored drills to make improvement clear and sustainable. Whether you're working through a specific fault or building your game from the ground up, I'll meet you where you are and help you go further.
