Teaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy was shaped in two very different worlds — the windswept links courses of Fife, and the fast-paced environment of tech product development. Both taught me the same lesson: complexity is the enemy of progress. Whether I was helping customers master a new software platform or helping a golfer rebuild their swing, it comes down to the same approach — break it down, make it clear, and build confidence through repetition and understanding. I believe every golfer is different, and the best lessons are the ones tailored to you — your body, your goals, your current game. At SWINGS, I use TrackMan's data to take the guesswork out of improvement. We look at the numbers, find the root cause, and build a simple, structured plan to fix it. No jargon. No information overload. Just clear, actionable steps that make sense. I want every student to leave a session feeling more confident and more capable than when they walked in — whether they're a complete beginner nervous to hit their first ball, a junior developing their game, or a seasoned player looking to sharpen specific areas. Golf should be enjoyable, and improvement should feel achievable. That's what I'm here for.
About the coach
I'm a PGA of Canada Apprentice Professional and the founder of SWINGS Indoor Golf in Squamish, BC — a Scottish golf club-inspired, state-of-the-art indoor facility built on a simple belief: that every golfer deserves a structured, welcoming environment to improve with clarity and confidence.
I was born in Aberdeen and raised in Lundin Links, Fife — a village with golf in its DNA, home to Lundin Golf Club, an Open Championship pre-qualifying venue, and the Lundin Ladies Golf Club, the oldest women's golf club in the world. I started playing at age 5 and went on to compete as a junior across Scotland's iconic links courses, winning multiple events along the way. Growing up 30 minutes from St Andrews gave me a deep appreciation for the craft, history, and challenge of the game.
Before entering professional coaching, I spent six years as a Tech Product Specialist. That career might seem far from the fairway — but it fundamentally shaped how I coach. I learned how to break complex systems into simple, repeatable steps, communicate clearly with diverse people, and focus relentlessly on the individual in front of me.
At SWINGS, I combine that analytical mindset with the feel and intuition of a lifelong golfer. Lessons are powered by TrackMan iO technology, giving students real-time data on every aspect of their swing and ball flight — so we're always making decisions based on evidence, not guesswork. I coach players of all levels, from first-timers to competitive golfers, and I take pride in making every session productive, personal, and enjoyable.
