His coaching style is based on development, working from the fundamentals into more complex movement patterns. With his TPI background he takes an anatomical approach when he looks into the golf swing. If the body is incapable of moving in a particular way, we need to find out the main cause of the issue and work on that as opposed to making the swing look a certain way. Functionality trumps the way the golf swing looks more or less an idea of how it should work. Find the proper anatomical movements and the swing should work with ease.
EJ played collegiately at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., and was working toward his dream of playing professionally before putting his game on pause to serve as a translator for eight-time PGA Tour winner K.J. Choi. The experience of traveling on the PGA Tour gave him a unique perspective into the daily life of a tour player, as well as giving him access to the best players and coaches in the world. This experience sparked an interest toward teaching the game instead of playing professionally.
Some of the coaches that have had a great influence on EJ include Phil Ritson, Steve Bann, Michael Breed, Butch Harmon and Kevin Kirk. EJ has certifications in teaching, biomechanics, various golf technology tools and club fitting.

EJ Kim has completely transformed my golf game and my mindset. He rebuilt my swing the right way, focusing on every detail and helping me truly understand what Im doing and why. Because of him, Im more consistent, confident, and disciplined every time I play. He pushes me to strive for greatness and become better not just as a golfer, but as a person, and Im incredibly grateful for the impact hes had on my life.

Each lesson Chloe leaves with actionable goals and areas to work on depending on a concern Chloe voices or technical issue EJ notices. Today was no different with pulling issues Chloes been having. EJ walked her through whats causing it, demonstrated how to fix it and provided drills.
