About the coach
Hi, I’m Dan McCracken—a PGA Teaching Professional and Director of Instruction at Five Iron Golf NYC. I’ve been lucky to work with players of all levels, from total beginners to competitive golfers, and my main goal is to help you get better and enjoy the process. With a background in Professional Golf Management from Penn State and experience at top-tier clubs like Philadelphia Cricket Club and Congressional CC, I bring both tour-level insight and a laid-back, results-driven approach to every lesson.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in building efficient, repeatable swings through a clear understanding of each player’s unique mechanics and tendencies.
One area I’m especially passionate about is helping players gain speed and distance. I’ve gone deep into the training myself—hitting 143.3 mph club head speed and 204.4 mph ball speed—and I enjoy helping others safely add speed in a way that fits their swing and goals.
If you’re looking to improve your swing mechanics, increase your speed, or simply become a more confident and consistent golfer, I’d be excited to work with you.
If you’d like to learn more about my style and see whether we’d be a good fit, shoot me a message and we can schedule a free consultation call.

Just when I think Dan has taught me everything there is to know, and I find myself in fear that he'd get bored and stop sending me his thoughts, he rolls out even better guidance right when I need it most. He refuses to ignore my uploads, even when I'm sending him redundant material. He honors his students' efforts regardless of where they 'are' in his 'process'.

How do you rate a mentor, friend, guru, leader, thinker, and shepherd extraordinaire like Dan McCracken? You don't. Dan's in a league all his own. They don't make enough gold stars to do him justice.

Dan McCracken is a master communicator of golf's intricacies. He's unraveling my lifetime of flaws in the most ingenious ways. What a brilliant and talented man Dan is, by Jove!

Dan McCracken distinguishes himself from other Golf Teaching Professionals and Coaches (note how I trat his titles a 'proper' nouns) by owning what he teaches. He relates to the golfers he teaches with examples of how he has used much of his technique to sharpen his own considerable skills. I want a pro who does what he says, not someone who just sticks a Band-Aid on me for a 'quick fix', which doesn't address the underlying problem/s. Dan McCracken drills down, gets into the swing from a physiological and psychological level, paring those with mechanics and flow.

Dan has soul... golf soul. I mean that in the most complimentary way, as his passion for the game is inspiring in itself. His technical and communicative gifts he shares generously, and I always feel as though I am being made privy to secrets he worked hard since childhood to learn, acquire, test, perfect, and validate.
