About the coach
Hi, I’m Dan McCracken—a PGA Teaching Professional and National Director of Instruction at Five Iron Golf. I’ve been lucky to work with players of all levels, from total beginners to competitive golfers, and my main goal is to help you get better and enjoy the process. With a background in Professional Golf Management from Penn State and experience at top-tier clubs like Philadelphia Cricket Club and Congressional CC, I bring both tour-level insight and a laid-back, results-driven approach to every lesson.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in building efficient, repeatable swings through a clear understanding of each player’s unique mechanics and tendencies.
One area I’m especially passionate about is helping players gain speed and distance. I’ve gone deep into the training myself—hitting 143.3 mph club head speed and 204.4 mph ball speed—and I enjoy helping others safely add speed in a way that fits their swing and goals.

Dan McCracken finds ways to conquer the demons no matter where they may lurk, especially those inside the noggins of his students. He suggests fun ways in which to improve, is always encouraging, and I just wonder: when does Dan get to have any fun?? A very special man, is Dan.

When your golf game feels like it's not going well, and you feel like you need to bring in the Big Guns, then Dan McCracken is your man. Get Smart might've been Secret Agent 86, but Dan McCracken is Secret Weapon Number One! He's looking at my total game, not just a DTL or face on swing. Shares with me his most-initmate secrets about things only he would do himself. It's a welth of knowledge he's accumulated all his life wrapped up neatly and given to his rooster of us students with a nice red shiney bow to boot. Good stuff, and helpful for those of us who cannot see ourselves as Dan sees us.
