Teaching Philosophy

I’m a big believer in set up and backswing. So many of the good players I see and work with have great foundations in their set up and backswing which makes impact much more consistent. I also enjoy exploring ground reaction with students and find that it can unlock many qualities in different types of swings, helping people gain distance, narrow dispersion and improve strike. Short game plays a huge part in my teaching. Having a pretty swing that functions well is importantly of course but no player will ever be perfect tee to green. The best players have great short games to bail them out, create scoring opportunities and keep big numbers off their cards.

About the coach

About me:

My name is Chloe Thackeray and I am a PGA coach based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Originally from London, I played college golf in Oklahoma, then came back and turned Pro when I moved to Scotland. I have spent the last 6 years focusing on my coaching, and have had a busy diary for that time whilst battling the Scottish elements.

Why Skillest?

I’m turning to online coaching now as I have had a waitlist for a year, so I figured this was a good alternative way to service some more golfing needs. (Also a little shelter from the cold!)

My coaching style:

Very simple, focusing on the lowest hanging fruit first (what makes the biggest impact). I operate with the philosophy that one size absolutely doesn’t fit all, so you will receive advice that is personalised to you. Once we have diagnosed the problem area and discussed the way we are going to address it, I will equip you with drills and exercises to achieve your goals.
