About the coach

I am the Director of Player Development and Managing Partner of Rick Murphy Golf Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Academy has two locations (Rick Murphy Golf Academy & Practice Center & Greensboro National Golf Club). I began my golf career playing professionally for five years on a variety of pro golf tours. While playing the game for a living, I developed a passion for helping others with their game and decided to make coaching my life’s work. I believe there are a number of variations that work in the golf swing. I teach fundamental swing Laws & Principals and help my Golfer’s determine their own individual Preferences or the “finger prints” in their golf swings. I serve as a filter for the students ideas and guide them to using their most efficient pattern to play the game. I believe in teaching golfers how to play golf, and not just swing the golf club. This requires that the coach cover the following aspects of the game: Full Swing, Short Game, Putting, Fitness/ Fundamental Movements, Mental Approach, and Playing Lessons.
