Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy is simple: keep it clear, keep it relevant, and always make it enjoyable. After nearly 30 years of coaching and the incredible privilege of training under Butch Harmon at some of the world's finest golf schools, I've come to believe that the best lessons are the ones that make sense to the student — not just the coach. I never just tell you what to do; I explain the cause and effect so you truly understand your swing and can take that knowledge onto the course with confidence. I build every lesson around the individual. Using tools like Trackman, 3D motion analysis, and video breakdowns, I look at what's actually happening in your swing — not what should be happening in a textbook. I'm also TPI certified, which means I factor in any physical limitations you might have, so the changes we work on are genuinely achievable for your body. Whether you're a complete beginner building solid fundamentals, or an experienced player looking to sharpen your short game and scoring, my goal is always the same: real improvement that sticks.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Professional with nearly 30 years of experience coaching golfers of all ages and abilities, and my career has been shaped by some of the most extraordinary learning environments in the game. I began my professional journey at the Kings Links Golf Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland, before earning a place at the Butch Harmon School of Golf in Portugal as an assistant to Claude Harmon III. From there, I moved to Butch Harmon's flagship base in Las Vegas — where I had the privilege of being on the range alongside world-class players including Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Darren Clarke, and Fred Couples. I then took over the management of Butch's school on Grand Bahama Island before returning home to Scotland.
Back in Aberdeen, I served as Director of Instruction at the Aspire Golf Centre (later the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre), where I spent over a decade developing players of all levels — many of whom went on to compete on mini tours across Europe. I've continued to invest in my craft, earning certifications in TPI, Trackman Level 2, 4D Motion, Quintic ball-roll analysis, and Aimpoint Express green reading.
Today, I combine all of that experience with a straightforward, personalised approach: strong fundamentals, clear communication, and a plan built around your specific goals. I specialise in full swing development, short game sharpening, and building the kind of consistency and confidence that actually transfers to the course.
