I'm Richard James, Head PGA Teaching Professional at Penrhos Park Golf Club, Wales Golf Regional Coach, former Welsh International, and EuroPro Tour winner.
My journey in golf began representing Wales before earning a golf scholarship to the University of South Florida (USF), where I competed in NCAA Division I golf. After turning professional, I competed on the EuroPro Tour and Challenge Tour, winning on the EuroPro Tour before transitioning into coaching.
Throughout my playing career, I was fortunate to work with and be coached by some of the best minds in the game. Competing at the highest levels of amateur and professional golf, while learning from world-class coaches, has given me invaluable knowledge and experience that continues to shape my coaching philosophy today. Those experiences taught me that every golfer is unique, and that long-term improvement comes from understanding the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
Today, I coach golfers of all abilities—from complete beginners to Welsh internationals and GB&I representatives. My coaching combines the experiences I've gained as both a player and coach with industry-leading technology, including TrackMan 4, SportsBox 3D, video analysis and performance statistics, to provide golfers with a clear and structured pathway to improvement.
My coaching extends beyond swing mechanics. Together we'll develop the skills that genuinely lower scores and help you perform under pressure: Ball striking and distance control, Putting and short-game performance, Course management and decision making, Structured practice that transfers to the golf course & Performance routines and the ability to perform under pressure
