Max Kettler
Altus Performance at Old American GC
🏌🏻♂️ High Performance Coach 📍 Altus Performance — Dallas, Texas 🏆 Building Winners in Life 📉 Lowering Your Scores #MAXimized⛳️ Growing up in Southlake, TX, Max Kettler has always been considered a teacher. Whether it was helping teammates eliminate their slice or helping classmates understand math concepts, Max always seemed to be everyone’s go-to guy for instruction. His passion for teaching and commitment to helping others succeed is what makes Max one of the most respected golfers and coaches in North Texas. Today, Max can efficiently create a better golf swing for all golfers, ranking from beginner to professional. His extraordinary knowledge is combined with his ability to explain necessary fundamentals in a clear and concise manner. Many golfers find comfort in Max as a teacher because he has been in their shoes as a player. Max played four years of high school golf at Southlake Carroll, three years as a member of the varsity team. In 2015, he was a member of the 2015 Texas 6A State Championship Team, where 11 of the 15 members later went on to play NCAA D1 college golf. In 2017, Max would captain the golf team and lead the team to a third place finish at the 2017 Texas 6A State Championship. Max would finish fourth that year individually with a score of 69-72=141(-3). In addition to his success as a high school athlete, Max garnered enough attention as a player to sign his NLI to play D1 college golf at Stephen F. Austin State University. Before heading off to SFASU, he won the 2017 TGA North Texas Amateur with a score of 68-71-67=206(-10). He would garner top-10s in his first two college events before transferring to Louisiana Tech University. There, his college career ended after his sophomore year due to a stress fracture in his lower back. He would transfer again to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a degree in Government in 2021. Max still competes in golf tournaments as an amateur and carries a USGA GHIN handicap of +7. Max’s high playing and teaching ability inspired him to search out top teachers to help him with his own craft. As a player, Max worked with three teachers, all ranked in Golf Digest: Jeff Isler, Devan Bonebrake, and Joey Wuertemberger. The level of education Max received as a player gave him a massive advantage for when it was time for him to transition into coaching. His thirst for knowledge did not stop since becoming a coach, as he has been mentored by some of the top teachers in the game today: Cameron McCormick, Randy Smith, Martin Chuck, Andrew Lewis, Nick Dunn, Dr. Kwon, Jonathan Buchanan, Joey Anders, Rick Woodson, Jeff Barton, Mike McGraw, Paige Martin and many more still to come! It was while learning under these teachers that Max’s philosophy was redefined. For Max, it is a quest to become one of golf’s greatest teachers, and to grow what he calls the MAXimized Golf Community! At age 24, he achieved one of his career goals when Cameron McCormick asked him to become a high performance coach at his academy, Altus Performance, continuing to build a culture of golf excellence and learning. Thank you for taking the time to read Max’s bio. We look forward to you joining our community and Altus Performance!
