Teaching Philosophy
I believe great coaching is about walking alongside a golfer on their journey — not just giving them positions and jargon and sending them back out alone. Every player I work with gets a personalised, goal-driven programme built around where they want to go, not just where they currently are. Whether that means working on the course, in the studio, or on the range, my focus is always on delivering real, measurable results and supporting you in between sessions too. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all lessons. I take the time to understand your game, your goals, and what genuinely motivates you — then we build from there. With over 25 years of experience coaching everyone from complete beginners to international tour players, I've learned that accountability, communication, and a genuine care for the person in front of you are just as important as technical knowledge. I use video analysis and the latest technology to accelerate your progress, but I always keep things clear, practical, and relevant to you. My programmes are built for the long term, designed to create lasting improvement — not a quick fix that unravels the moment you leave the lesson bay.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Advanced Professional and UK Top 50 Golf Instructor based at East Midlands Golf Academy at Morley Hayes in Derby, with over 25 years of experience coaching golfers at every level. As Head of Coaching at EMGA and England Regional U18 Girls Head Coach for the East Midlands, I work with serious competitive players while also maintaining a real passion for helping everyday golfers fall in love with the game and reach their personal goals. My clients have won every major amateur and professional trophy in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire golf, claimed 8 Order of Merit titles in the Midlands, and gone on to compete on professional and amateur tours worldwide. I've coached over 80 county champions across 11 counties and worked internationally in Austria, Germany, and New Zealand. I'm also a key member of the PGA GB & I Coaching team and a Derbyshire Institute of Sport Consultant, and I regularly present at European coaching conferences. Beyond my on-course work, I founded onlinejuniorgolf.com to bring structured junior development online, and I run the Golf Coaching Business consultancy, which has supported over 500 coaches across 25 countries. I've been honoured with England Regional Coach of the Year and County Professional of the Year.
