Teaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is built on one simple truth: understanding why something works is far more powerful than just copying what looks good. After 15+ years competing at the highest amateur and professional levels — from New Zealand Golf's High Performance Programme through to DP World Tour and Asian Tour events — I've learned that real improvement comes from building a game that's both technically sound and mentally resilient. I know what it takes to perform under pressure, and I know what goes wrong when the fundamentals aren't in place. That experience shapes every lesson I give. I believe in meeting students where they are, whether that's a junior picking up the game for the first time or an experienced golfer wanting to sharpen their competitive edge. I focus on the full picture: swing mechanics, course management, and the mental approach that separates good golfers from great ones. My goal is to give you the same quality of guidance I benefited from during my own elite career — practical, honest, and tailored specifically to you.

About the coach

I'm a PGA Professional and former touring professional from Nelson, New Zealand, with over 15 years of high-level playing experience across both the amateur and professional ranks. During my amateur career, I trained under the New Zealand Golf High Performance Programme, representing New Zealand internationally — including at the World Amateur Team Championships (Eisenhower Trophy) — and winning on the Charles Tour in 2014. I turned professional in late 2017 and immediately earned my PGA Tour of Australasia card through Tour School. My rookie season was a strong one: I finished runner-up at the Vic PGA Championship, recorded a top-10 at the Victorian Open, and went on to compete across the PGA Tour of Australasia, DP World Tour events, and the Asian Tour over a six-year professional career. I'm now channeling everything I've learned on tour into coaching, while completing my Tour Articulation with the PGA of Australia. I'm based on the Gold Coast and offer both in-person and online lessons.
