About the coach

Michael is currently located at the Jeff Isler Golf Academy - a Golf Channel Academy location in Southlake, Texas. He is currently a PGA Master Instructor and Director of the Skills Academy for Jeff Isler Golf.

Born and raised in Pittsford, NY a suburb of the city of Rochester, Michael played a multitude of sports and eventually specializing in golf his Junior Year. Michael’s passion for teaching the game of golf started his Senior Year when he assisted with various youth camps at his local club. After graduating high school Michael enrolled at Penn State University in the fall of 2008. Here he entered into the PGA Golf Management Program where he majored in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management as well as minored in Business and Economics. Throughout his four years at Penn State, Michael competed in and won a handful of events within his program.

When he first entered the program, he aspired to be a Head Golf Professional with a focus on instruction. Over time his passion for teaching grew, and he moved towards the goal of teaching full-time. Upon graduation in 2012, Michael was accredited as a Class “A” PGA Professional and later took his PGA accreditation another step further by becoming PGA Certified in Teaching and Coaching. In 2014 Michael received the US Kids Golf Honorable Mention Top 50 Kids Teacher Award.

Michael enjoys coaching players of varying skill – over his time as a teaching professional he has worked with many beginners, competitive juniors and touring professionals. Michael tailors his coaching style to fit the needs of the player in front of him and does not adhere to a specific “model” or on size fits all approach. Through the use of skills assessments/testing, statistical analysis, on-course training, and the use of technology, Michael can assist golfers of all skill levels to reach their personal goals and make golf more enjoyable. Michael’s three most important characteristics for every golfer include: course management, a strong short game and placing an emphasis on skills rather than picture perfect technique.
