Teaching Philosophy
I believe great coaching is a partnership. My goal isn't just to fix your swing on the range — it's to help you understand why the ball does what it does, and give you the tools and the confidence to take your game from the practice ground onto the course. Whether we're working on technical changes, course management strategies, or skills-based challenges, I tailor every session to what you actually need. I'm always developing my own coaching knowledge, learning from some of the best minds in the game. I bring that continuous learning directly into my lessons so that you benefit from the latest thinking in golf development. Whether you're a complete beginner, a junior golfer finding your feet, or an experienced player looking to sharpen up, I'll meet you where you are — and help you get to where you want to be.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Professional based at the John Reay Golf Centre in Coventry, and I was honoured to be named the Titleist PGA Assistant of the Year — an award that recognised my commitment to the game and to the players I work with.
My coaching journey is one I came to with purpose. Inspired by the Tiger Woods era, I fell in love with golf and dedicated myself to becoming the best coach I could be. Today I work with golfers of all abilities — from complete beginners and junior players right through to club competitors — and I'm passionate about making improvement feel achievable and enjoyable for everyone.
I'm based at the John Reay Golf Centre in Keresley, Coventry, which offers a floodlit driving range for year-round coaching that fits around your schedule, as well as access to Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club for on-course and short game lessons.
Online, I've completed over 1,390 lessons with students around the world using video analysis, reviewing swing footage from down the line and face on to provide detailed, personalised feedback. As a coach I feel it is important to continue to invest in my own development, working alongside some of the most respected coaches in the game. When you work with me, you get a coach who genuinely cares about your progress — both now and in the long run.

Great lesson Matt, thank you. Lots to work on but the videos are so helpful. The tray technique encouraging me to turn is particularly useful as well as getting the right tempo!
