Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy is simple: the instructor's job is to educate themselves to the highest possible level — to be able to demonstrate and explain precisely what is required — while the student's job is to personalise that information, give feedback, ask questions, and apply it to their own performance and enjoyment of the game. I don't tell you what you're doing wrong. I show you what's right. I've spent over 37 years immersed in this game, learning from some of the finest minds in golf instruction, including intensive work under Ben Doyle and a deep study of The Golfing Machine system. My approach is grounded in the physics and geometry of the golf swing — universal laws of force and motion — not arbitrary methods or quick fixes. By understanding the real mechanics behind ball striking, the illusions that mislead golfers stop being a problem and start becoming a tool. Every student I work with goes through a proper assessment first. I use Bioswing Dynamics screening to understand how your unique body is designed to move, so the swing we build together is matched to you — not a generic template. Whether we're working on eliminating fat and thin shots, building a more consistent ball flight, or dialling in your short game and putting, everything we do is grounded in evidence and tailored to your game. Golf is not a job for me — it's a lifelong passion, and that energy comes through in every lesson.
About the coach
I'm a Fellow-level PGA Professional based in Bremen, Germany, with over 37 years of experience in golf and more than two decades serving as Head Professional at Bremer Schweiz Golf Club. Born in England and qualified with the PGA of Great Britain since 1999, I've built my teaching reputation on one core belief: real improvement comes from understanding the mechanics of the game at the deepest level — not from tips and band-aids.
My specialist area is ball striking. If you struggle with fat shots, thin shots, or inconsistency that robs you of confidence and enjoyment, you're in the right place. I work within the framework of The Golfing Machine — a geometry and physics-based system that cuts through the noise and gets to the true cause of impact problems. I'm an Authorized Instructor and Golf Stroke Engineering Master (G.S.E.M.), and I also incorporate Bioswing Dynamics screening into my lessons to ensure the swing we develop is matched to your individual body structure and biomechanics.
Over the years I've trained intensively with some of the most respected instructors in the world, including Ben Doyle (Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher), and I hold additional certifications from Scott Cowx and Lynn Blake. I'm also a certified club fitter, which means I can help you make sure your equipment is working with you, not against you.
I offer lessons in English and German, both in person at Bremer Schweiz Golf Club and online via video analysis — covering the full game: long game, short game, and putting. Whether you're a beginner building from scratch or an experienced player chasing that next level of consistency, I bring the same level of preparation, precision, and passion to every session.
