About the coach

Hello, I'm James Whatley, and I proudly hold the position of Head PGA Professional at the esteemed East Midlands Golf Academy. My journey in the world of golf turned professional back in 2002, and it's been a remarkable adventure ever since. Over the years, I've had the privilege of coaching players of diverse abilities, from seasoned professionals to those taking their very first steps on the greens.

My golfing journey has taken me to some impressive heights. I've had the honor of competing in the prestigious BMW PGA Championships on the European Tour, where I tested my skills against some of the finest golfers in the world. Additionally, I've represented Great Britain and Ireland in the fiercely competitive PGA Cup, battling it out against the formidable team from the United States.

But my connection with the sport doesn't end on the coaching and competitive side. I'm still very much an active player, and this year, I had a particularly memorable moment by shooting a record-breaking 62 in a 36-hole event, securing victory with an impressive 10-stroke lead.

What truly fuels my passion is coaching, and I find immense joy in helping golfers of all levels improve their game. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, my commitment is to guide and inspire you on your golfing journey.
