Teaching Philosophy
Over the last decade, I've arrived at a few major coaching conclusions. First, you can't "slow-motion" the golf swing. The brain can process motion-based instruction, but not positional thoughts. Second, how you move the club creates a chain of events that produces a reactive body. The cause comes before the effects we see. Third, the best students own their swing, and to own it, you need knowledge. That's why I teach through educational courses—knowledge first, simplicity second. Fourth, your inspirations and your fit with a swing pattern mean everything. They unlock real swing development. You are supposed to swing a certain way, but which way is it? That's why I offer different swing styles. Chances are you'll fit one of them better than the others. Finally, swing changes shouldn't take 50,000 reps. If they do, you're probably working on the wrong thing. Change should happen fairly quickly. True ownership takes time, but you should feel the effects almost immediately. Long story short, that's why I provide courses built around education. If you're new to FMM, I recommend starting with the Light Bundle so you can explore the different styles and discover which one fits you best. Once you've found your fit, move on to the Advanced course. It's better in general, and I continue polishing and expanding it with additional material over time. Welcome.
About the coach
When I started beating par regularly, I figured I was good enough to coach. When I started shooting sub-65, I felt I probably needed to do something with it.
That led me to studying two very specific questions:
What sits behind the greatest swings of all time?
And how can it be taught in a way that is both achievable and sustainable? After all, what's the point if it leads to injury?
I found very few answers in modern swing philosophies. But when I started diving into old-school golf, the answers began to appear.
Harmony. Fluidity. Acceleration. Complete decisiveness.
Heavier clubs. Spinnier balls. Fewer injuries.
This was the world that built the game's greatest ball strikers.
The books often contained fragments—quotes, sayings, and ideas that were difficult to interpret. Golf is hard to describe, after all. Ernest Jones spent an entire book talking about swinging the clubhead, only to arrive at the conclusion that you ultimately need to figure it out yourself.
My goal is to go one step further.
To explain those old-school ideas in a way that is actually understandable and usable.
Is it 100% accurate? Probably not.
Is it 100% correct? Probably not.
But I do believe it's a better answer than any I found along the way.
Big Arc Swinger = My learnings from players such as Nicklaus, Weiskopf, Watson, Seve, Adam Scott, young Rory, Scheffler and, of course, Tiger Woods. A pattern built around creating the biggest arc possible and using that space for speed and consistency.
Aggressive Fluid Release = My take on Ben Hogan. Not a replica, but an achievable version of the inner layer behind the master of masters. It's my newest protocol and will continue evolving over time. It only took seven years to create.
Trail Power Hitter = Inspired by 80s and 90s golf and trail-hand dominant players such as early O'Grady, Woosnam, Langer, Westwood, Stenson, Straka and Lowry. A deliberate, vertical and early front-side release that creates tremendous strike quality.
Backside Chop & Push = Based primarily on Trevino and Thomson. Thomson won five Open Championships in seven years. Quite honestly, this may be the pattern I would choose for competitive golf myself—although I can never fully make up my mind.
Your inspirations matter more than you think.
Fit means everything.
