Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy is simple: Make Golf Simple. After 35+ years playing and teaching the game at the highest levels, I've learned that lasting improvement always comes back to fundamentals. Before we work on your swing, we build the foundation — a correct grip, balanced posture, proper alignment, and a consistent setup. These pre-swing elements directly influence everything that happens after the club starts moving, and most golfers skip right past them. From there, I teach with an emphasis on understanding impact — what a correct impact position looks and feels like — and we build the swing backward from that anchor. I use slow-motion work, mirror feedback, and deliberate practice to develop real body awareness and sequencing, not timing-dependent compensations that break down under pressure. Every student learns differently, and it's my job to find the communication style that helps each person truly understand and internalize what they're doing. I've worked with complete beginners, competitive juniors, high school state champions, collegiate players, and PGA Tour-level players. That range of experience means I know how to meet you where you are and take you where you want to go. Whether you're chasing a lower handicap, competing at a high level, or simply trying to enjoy the game more — I'll help you build a repeatable, efficient swing grounded in sound technique.
About the coach
I'm a PGA Professional, former touring professional, and golf instructor with more than 35 years of experience in competitive golf, player development, and golf school operations. My playing career took me to the Ben Hogan Tour, Nike Tour, and Asian Tour, and I recorded multiple victories on mini-tours in Texas and Florida. That competitive background — understanding pressure, course management, and what it takes to perform — is something I bring into every lesson I give.
After my playing career, I worked as an assistant at some of the most prestigious private clubs in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, including Gleneagles Country Club and Northwood Club, before serving as 1st Assistant at Shady Oaks Country Club, the longtime home of the legendary Ben Hogan. That experience in elite club environments gave me deep roots in the traditions, standards, and subtleties of the game.
I founded the Ingy School of Golf to deliver structured, personalized instruction built around a fundamentals-first philosophy. My approach covers the full picture: pre-swing fundamentals, swing mechanics, course management, and mental performance. I'm also a published golf educator — author of two online instructional books and contributor of 15+ articles and swing tips to Golf Illustrated — and I pride myself on simplifying complex swing concepts and identifying the root cause of issues rather than chasing symptoms.
Some of my most meaningful coaching has been with junior players. I developed my own son from a young beginner into a top-ranked junior, Texas high school state champion, and collegiate golfer. I currently coach the junior high golf team at Alcuin School in the DFW area, where I focus on sound fundamentals, confidence, decision-making, and a genuine love for the game. Whether you're brand new to golf or chasing competitive goals, I'm here to help you build something real and lasting.

Seriously improved my swing, with giving it the proper swing and focusing on that, I was easily getting my distances without giving it full power.

Mark does a great job of explain the swing during the lesson. He then follows up with detailed notes and video to help visualize the process with recommended drills.
