Teaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is simple: every golfer is different, so every player deserves coaching built around their own technique, tendencies and goals. As a short-game specialist, I focus on helping golfers understand why the ball behaves the way it does, rather than relying on quick fixes or one-size-fits-all methods. My aim is to make technique simple, give players clear feedback and provide practice that transfers directly onto the golf course. I believe the best coaching should improve more than just your swing. It should build confidence, sharpen decision-making and give you a reliable system you can trust under pressure. Every lesson is designed to leave you with a clear understanding of what to work on, how to practise it and how to take it into your game. I’m Damien Woodward
I started the game at 7 years old becoming a plus handicap before turning professional on the Europro tour and Clutch tour whilst becoming a PGA Coach at the age of 18. To this day I still continue to grow and learn from the best coaches to bring your games up a level.

I now have over 10+ years of experience coaching Club Champions, County Champions, players with WAGR, multiple medal winners, Open final qualifiers and other fellow PGA Professionals on their journey.

I don’t just coach the short game, I believe I’m just as good across the board but I do get a lot of players wanting my services 100 yards in and around the greens.

Coaching the short game is where I enjoy my time. Watching players improve dramatically, saving 5-7 per round, shooting lower scores brings me a lot of satisfaction.

As a player on Euro Pro back in the day I was coached by Dan Grieve, he has helped me significantly coach to this day alongside working with European Tour coach Alex Buckner and learning his systems to improve my players.

Using these 2 greats I have developed my own system to help players train with purpose. Building the players tool box and discovering where and when certain shots can be produced.

As of November 2026 I will be based in the Costa Del Sol where I will be coaching full time online, coaching holidays and my 2 day premium short game experience at some of Costa del sol finest venues. Here you will learn my system and build a tour proven short game.
