Teaching Philosophy

Golf has taught me that simplicity is everything. After more than two decades competing at the highest level — on the European Tour, PGA Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia — I've learned that the players who thrive are the ones who master the fundamentals and keep things uncomplicated under pressure. That philosophy drives everything I do as a coach. My specialty is the short game, and it always has been. I've spent my entire career refining touch around the greens, studying bunker technique, and understanding what separates good short game players from great ones. Now I bring all of that hard-won experience directly to my students. Whether it's a bunker shot that needs more confidence, chips that aren't releasing the way you want, or putts that just won't drop, I genuinely love digging into those problems and finding solutions that work for the individual. I believe every student is different and every lesson should feel tailored. I draw on my experience under real Tour pressure — the wins, the near-misses, the comebacks — to make coaching relatable and practical. I want my students to leave every session with clear, actionable improvements they can take straight to the course. My goal is always the same: help you play better golf and enjoy the game more.

About the coach

I'm a six-time DP World Tour champion and lifelong Perth local who has made the transition from professional Tour golfer to full-time coach — and I couldn't be more passionate about it. I turned professional in 2000 after a decorated amateur career that included winning the Australian Amateur Championship and representing Australia through the elite AIS High Performance Golf Program. Over the next two decades I competed on the European Tour, PGA Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia, winning six times on the DP World Tour, including memorable back-to-back victories at the 2013 Ballantine's Championship and Volvo China Open, and a homecoming win at the 2017 ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth — where I also claimed the Australasian Order of Merit.

Throughout my playing career I became recognised globally as one of the game's elite short game operators — earning the nickname 'Mr. Short Game' on the European Tour. Titleist's master wedge designer Bob Vokey once placed my short game in the same breath as Seve, Trevino, Tiger, and Mickelson, and that reputation is something I now channel directly into my coaching.

After completing the PGA of Australia's bridging program, I joined the team at Wembley Golf Course in Perth — home of the PGA Centre for Learning and Performance — where I now coach golfers of all levels. I bring real Tour experience, genuine passion for the craft, and a deep technical knowledge of the short game and bunker play to every lesson. Whether you're a beginner building your foundations or an experienced player chasing a lower handicap, I'm here to help you improve.

Frequently asked questions

What is an online golf lesson?

An online golf lesson is a way of learning golf skills and techniques from a coach or instructor through the internet, using video analysis, live coaching, or online courses. On Skillest, you can get private instruction with an elite golf coach without even leaving your home. Just record your golf swing and send it to your coach, along with any goals, questions, or other information that will help your coach create the right plan for you.

What are the benefits of an online lesson using Skillest?

Online golf lessons using Skillest offer many benefits, such as convenience, affordability, flexibility, and access to the largest selection of the most talented golf coaches in one place. Through video recordings, side by side comparisons, and conversations you have with your coach, you will receive comprehensive feedback on what you need to improve and how to improve these areas. When you get a lesson on Skillest, you don’t need to schedule a time or drive to your lesson. You can just record your swing and message your coach whenever you have questions.

How do I receive feedback from my coach?

You will receive feedback from your coach through the Skillest app. Your coach will record their own videos with their analysis as well as additional drills to work on and send them back to you inside the lesson. You can watch your coach’s analysis, which may include video, audio, text, or drawings and see the changes and improvements they suggest for your swing. You can also ask your coach follow-up questions you have, and chat with them through the app. You can also review your feedback and track your progress anytime on the app.

What are the different types of lesson plans I can purchase?

Skillest offers a variety of plans and packages available for purchase. You can purchase a single online lesson, lesson packages, monthly subscriptions, or live Zoom lessons. Many coaches also offer video-based courses in addition to one-on-one coaching. Note: Not every coach will offer each type of lesson plan available.

What are Courses?

Whether you're looking to refine your technique, master strategy, boost your fitness, or enhance your mental game, our courses are designed to help you excel in your chosen sport—be it golf, swimming, cricket, basketball, or baseball.
