About the coach
Welcome to Rowan Lester Online Golf Coaching. I look forward to helping golfers on their journey to better golf with the experience I’ve gathered throughout the past 20+ years. I’ve worked along some elite swing and performance coaches, who have given me a better understanding about the swing technically and how to manage my game in pressure situations. All of the experience I’ve gained has been while playing at the highest amateur level representing Great Britain and Ireland teams at boys and men’s level. I played college golf in Texas and learned how to play in new climates and course conditions. I turned professional in 2021 and have played on mini tours throughout the USA and the UK along with competing in European Tour, Asian Tour and Challenge Tour events. Long game: I believe all aspects of the game start with sound fundamentals especially the long game as they set us up for success along with allowing our bodies and the club to move in a more fluid and efficient way. Some of these fundamentals include Grip, Posture, Alignment, Ball Position and weight distribution. The goal is to have a predictable ball flight and shot shape so that we have consistency and a sense of reliability when under pressure. Hitting certain shot shapes, whether they are high/low or left to right or right to left require certain movements along with correct set ups and ball positions. Short game: Technique is a huge part of Short Game which we will address to see what areas need improvement. One of the most important things to understand in Short Game is being able to read how the ball is lying, whether we are in the sand, fairway, muddy lies, rough or semi rough etc. In many cases I’ve seen people including myself playing the correct shot but using the wrong club which can really make the task in hand a lot tougher, especially when under pressure. My goal is to make you clear in what you are doing process/technique wise so that you can execute easy, intermediate and advanced shots without thinking of external negative thoughts. Putting: When it comes to putting there’s a lot of different ways to do it in terms of grips and strokes. What all good putters have in common again is solid fundamentals. Their eyes are positioned over the ball or just before it, the weight is in the balls of their feet and they have a nice flow to their strokes without anything being jerky or rushed. Starting off we’d work on posture and set up so the eyes are in a correct position, ball position correct and then we would work on start line to see whether you are pulling or pushing putts more. To help you gain a clear idea I will send on video analysis so that it simplifies what you need to do. I can give you putting games to work on and simple pace drills which is key to lowering your handicap and shooting better scores. My style of coaching will be clear and easy to understand while trying to make your worst shots more manageable, so that the game comes easier. I’m excited to share my wealth of knowledge to golfers of all abilities who are looking to bring their games to the next level. I look forward to meeting new people and working together. I am now taking all new clients and will get back to you with 24 hours of your lesson request. Socials & email: -Rowanlester27 Instagram [email protected]
