Teaching Philosophy

Golf is a sport, and I approach it that way. My background in sport science and psychology shapes everything I do — from the way I analyse a swing to how I communicate a change and help a student truly understand it. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all instruction. Every player I work with brings a unique athletic history, a different learning style, and a specific set of goals. My job is to first accurately identify what will actually move the needle for that individual, then adapt my delivery so the message lands and sticks. I believe improvement comes down to three things: knowing exactly what to work on, understanding how to practise it effectively, and receiving consistent, precise feedback over time. When those three elements are in place — whether we're working in person on a range or through video analysis from anywhere in the world — real progress follows. I'm deeply passionate about simplifying what can often feel like a complicated game, breaking down technique in a way that is clear, actionable, and immediately applicable. Whether you're a touring professional fine-tuning under tournament pressure or a weekend golfer just wanting to enjoy the game more, I approach every lesson with the same curiosity and care. I get to solve puzzles every day — and I love it.

About the coach

Hello! Welcome to my Skillest Coaching page.

I’ve been coaching players of all levels from around the world for over 20 years. I started this Skillest account in 2020 and have since helped hundreds of players from various countries. Today, I split my time between in-person and online coaching, as I truly love both styles.

My educational background is in sport science and psychology, which my students would tell you is reflected in both my coaching and communication style. Golf, after all, is a sport — and we need to approach our strategies from an athletic perspective.

The game of golf has always been good to me, allowing me to travel the world and work with dedicated students. Whether it’s touring professionals, celebrities, collegiate players, aspiring juniors, or weekend warriors, my greatest passion is seeing my players improve.

I view every student as a unique individual, with a specific athletic background and distinctive learning style. My role as a coach is to first identify what each player needs in order to improve, then adapt to their learning style to ensure they fully understand the process moving forward. Essentially… I get to solve puzzles every day!

Having given well over 7,000 lessons here on Skillest, I can confidently say this is an extremely effective way to learn. As a player, there are three key criteria for improvement:
1. You need an accurate assessment of what to improve in order to lower your scores.
2. You need to fully understand how to practice in order to make those improvements.
3. You need consistent, precise feedback — the more frequent and specific, the better.

On Skillest, we can achieve all of this, and in many cases, do it even more efficiently than with traditional in-person lessons.

Here’s how it works:

As a new student, we’ll start with a Zoom call to get to know each other and discuss your game. I want to know everything!

The next step is sending over your videos.

While we’ll eventually look at every area of your game, let’s say we begin with your full swing. I’d have you send one video from down the line (toe-line view) and one from face-on (caddie view) using your 7-iron. If you have stats, I’d love to see those too.

From your videos and feedback, I’ll analyze everything and explain the direction we need to take with your movement. I’ll then create a personalized video to walk you through the key points and demonstrate any drills or training exercises you should incorporate into practice. I’ll assign you specific “homework” and outline exactly what I need you to film for our next check-in. We’ll stay in regular contact to make sure your practice time is as effective as possible.

Whenever you’re learning something new, having the right direction, consistent feedback, and accountability is crucial. Your goals are achievable — we just need to get you on the right path!

I’ve also created several courses here on my Skillest page, including:
• Finding the Fairway
• Building a Better Backswing
• Breaking Down the Downswing
• The Art of Putting
• Short Game for All Skill Levels

If this sounds like something that interests you, send me a message and we’ll arrange a Zoom call.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Have a wonderful day!
